The Academy for Engineering and Technology (AET) program is a concurrent college enrollment engineering program for high school juniors and seniors that aims to equip the next generation of engineers by giving our students a holistic view of both the exciting career opportunities available in engineering and technology and the rigors required of them to be successful in these programs at a college level. AET is a two-year program offered the Institute for Advanced Learning & Research (IALR) and Danville Community College (DCC). College-level, concurrent enrollment courses are taught at IALR’s facility in Danville. High school sophomores from Danville and Pittsylvania County are eligible to apply to AET.

Students enrolled in AET will focus on fundamentals of analysis, design and processes, giving them the foundational skills necessary to complete, if desired, a bachelor’s degree in engineering upon completion of the program. In addition to coursework, all students will participate in experiential learning opportunities, seeing firsthand the important work engineers do across all facets of our society.
